God<\/em>: I made you in my image and likeness. You came from a man and a woman, your dad and mom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a kid, you saw traits from your mom as \u201cfeminine\u201d, and traits from your dad as \u201cmasculine\u201d. This is a simplification made from immaturity<\/em>. If you step back a generation, you\u2019ll see your dad had traits from his dad and mom that you now identify as \u201cmasculine\u201d, whether they came from his dad or from his mom; and your mom has traits from her dad and mom that you now identify as \u201cfeminine\u201d, whether they came from her dad or from her mom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are a man. But you came from a man and a woman, so you will see traits from both in you, not only in how you look<\/em> but in how you think and behave<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reality is, nobody knows what \u201cfeminine\u201d or \u201cmasculine\u201d is except from their own parents<\/strong><\/em>, birth or otherwise. For some, \u201cfeminine\u201d means a homemaker; for others, it means CEO. For some, \u201cmasculine\u201d means CEO; for others, it means a homemaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacob was a homebody, but Esau was a man of the field. Both were men<\/em>. I didn\u2019t go \u201cJacob is too feminine to walk in my purpose; he should be like Esau\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacob was a romantic. He was his mom\u2019s favorite. In your culture, he would not be considered very manly<\/em><\/strong>. Yet he was the man I chose<\/em>. I didn\u2019t say \u201cpart of your training is to become more like Esau\u201d. While he looked after flocks, he didn\u2019t become a hunter<\/em> like Esau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You are artistic<\/em>. You like to care about appearance<\/strong><\/em>. You even had someone say of your apartment \u201cthis is really nice\u2026 for a guy\u201d. You had multiple people ask if you lived alone. Joshua\u2014they weren\u2019t expecting a man<\/strong> to set things up so well<\/em>. And where do you get that trait from?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your mom. Did I make a mistake, and accidentally give you your mom? Not at all. I\u2019m glad she is your mom. I\u2019m glad your dad is your dad too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You do realize that the man in Jacob\u2019s life\u2014his father<\/em>\u2014didn\u2019t favor him because Esau was more his type of son?<\/em><\/strong> That is a soul-crushing REALITY<\/em>. While it is true that one of the sons in that culture would get a birthright, you do know that Jacob blessed ALL HIS SONS<\/em><\/strong>. He didn\u2019t repeat the same mistake his father made. Isaac could have had a separate blessing for Esau and Jacob<\/em><\/strong>. Why not get both his sons, announce he would bless them both, and send them both on separate errands?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Jacob did is what most men in your culture wish they could do too. They see men that have the blessing of a mentor, a father-figure, they see someone else\u2019s dad<\/em>, and want the blessing of a father. And if they can\u2019t have it\u2026 if only they could STEAL IT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have my blessing. Jesus is the firstborn among many brethren, but you are co-heir<\/strong><\/em>. In other words, you\u2019re not getting less of the birthright<\/em><\/strong>. I VALIDATE YOU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not going to demand you become more like Esau first. My blessing is YOURS<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
